Planning the rest of the trip

We had wanted to go to Uganda because it has beutiful mountains and rain forests, gorillas and chimpanzees, well-educated and friendly people, amongst other things. We are not going there now because two tourists were shot there last week by the idiots who live in the north and bacuse there was a student demo and riot in Kampala last week, because it is not safe to walk around at night, because I had a bad feeling about the place and because it is a bit out of our way!

So, Ethiopian Airlines, with their typical and remarkable efficiency allowed us to change our flight to go to Dar Es Salaam, in Tanzania, from hwree it is a short boat trip to Zanzibar. Not sure if we will go to Serengeti and Ngorongoro, as not sure if there wil be all that many animals. Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is a possibility, but that depends on weather (and Fred's willingness!).

Once we are ready to go, we fancy taking the Tazore Express into the heart of Zambia, fropm where we will go to Victoria Falls.

Then we go to Namibia and down to South Africa, perhaps taking in the northern part of Botswana.

This all represents a very different part of Africa to where we have been, such that our trip can be divided into seven weeks MiddleEast/Arabia, nine weeks Horn of Africa and nine weeks Eastern and Southern Africa. This latter will be typified more by beautiful natural scenery, beaches and animal watching and less on the people and cultures which we have experienced up to now.

It is good to have a plan.
