A tragic day for Syria
The Wahhabis of Saudi Arabia are to bankroll the rebels in Syria, turning the struggle for sure into an ethnic conflict. This is a photo from a Free Syria demonstration in Amsterdam from a couple of weeks ago. Hard to believe that the Saudis, in charge of one of the least free countries in the world are able to help Syrians achieve freedom.

Charles at (almost) 51
Another year gone by, so fast... birthday time again and I have just celebrated it with a small paty at home with some lovely friends, some delicious food prepared by Fred and nice sunny (almost) warm weather. All very nice, a pity Holland lost their third match in a row, hoping that Italy and England do better in the next two days ahead. And... after a few drinks, my cold seems to have disappeared, thank goodness!

A non-naked bike ride to Ijburg
There were lots of bunnies beside the (wide) cycle path in Ijburg, many of them too lazy and hungry(?) to run away. A much nicer sight than in our local park the day before...

Face of a Champion - Camelot before the race
As we can see from the sweat, it turned out to be a hot and sunny afternoon, despite the cool and cloudy start and a rather unpromising forecast. What was well forecast was that Camelot would win the 233rd Derby on his way to a tilt at the Triple Crown, mirroring what is going on the other side of the Atlantic. And win he did, in emphatic style from the smallest and weakest Derby fields we have seen in many years.
